Take the data
Everything behind the list, as CSV. Use it to find your own idea, check ours, or build a better ranking.
The requests
still-unbuilt-requests.csv: all 12,441 Hacker News comments and posts from 2008 to 2026 that Jev judged to be a request for software. One row each:
| Column | What it holds |
|---|---|
hn_id, hn_url | The item on Hacker News. Read the text there. |
date, kind | When it was posted; comment or post. |
topic | One of 29 areas, from Coding to Games. |
request_type | new_tool (says it doesn’t exist or can’t find it) or better_version (cheaper, simpler, local, open…). |
would_pay … wants_ai | Jev’s graded answer from 0 to 1 to seven questions about terms: would pay, wants it free, objects to subscriptions, local or private, open source, simple, wants AI. |
top100_rank, top100_idea | Filled in when a second reader confirmed the request belongs to one of the 100 ideas. |
The 100 ideas
still-unbuilt-top100.csv: every number on the list, one row per idea, with the Show HN status and match counts.
What isn’t in it
No comment text and no usernames. The text belongs to the people who wrote it and stays on Hacker News; each row links to it.

This site runs on ShipTiffin. A push to GitHub deploys it, the way it would on Vercel, but the server is a Hetzner box in your own account. Postgres, sign-in, email, jobs and analytics are already on it, every project gets a hard limit, and nothing is billed by usage.
$19 a month per box, plus about $10 for the server at Hetzner. Open source, so you can also run it yourself for free.
